Fees and terms

Mediation Fees

Your Venn Mediator will hold a free Zoom or telephone consultation with you, of up to 1 hour, prior to any mediation taking place. This is to explain the process and answer any questions you may have, to estimate the time needed for your mediation and advise you of the cost to you.

Civil & Commercial Hourly Fee:

  • The total fee for civil and commercial mediation is £150.00 per hour.
  • This cost is split 50:50 between the two parties so each party pays £75.00 per hour.
  • Fees are payable in advance of the civil and commercial mediation taking place.

Workplace Hourly Fee:

  • The fee for workplace mediation is £100.00 per hour.
  • The organisation typically pays the whole fee.
  • Fees are payable on completion of mediation activities.

The Hourly Fee Applies to:

  • Work undertaken by the Mediator in preparation for the mediation, such as reading participant statements and dispute summaries;
  • Each hour of time designated for the mediation whether in person, via Zoom or by telephone;
  • Each hour of extension to the designated hours for the mediation. If extension is required, this will be with the agreement of all parties.

Key Terms and Conditions:

  • Fees are payable in advance of the mediation when the appointment of the Mediator is confirmed.
  • No refunds are made except in accordance with the cancellation and postponement schedule below.
  • Overtime is charged at £150.00 per hour (£100.00 per hour for workplace mediations) beyond the designated hours, if required.
  • Expenses for face to face mediations are payable at actual cost. These may include travel, refreshments and accommodation, where necessary.
  • The participants are responsible for the cost of any venue hire needed for the mediation
  • With the exception of workplace mediations, parties are jointly and severally liable for all fees from the receipt of the Venn Mediator booking confirmation email by them – unless the booking is cancelled within 24 hours of receipt of the booking confirmation email. The booking confirmation email will state the agreed mediation date.
  • Parties must sign the Agreement to Mediate and give this to the Mediator before the mediation commences: failure to sign does not remove liability for fees.
